The Makaleha Trail in the Makaleha Mountains, near Kapaʻa on Kauaʻi, is an adventurous scramble through lush jungle, rock-strewn creek beds, and muddy river valleys, culminating at the impressive Makaleha Falls.
This area is susceptible to rainy conditions, so the trail gets muddy and slippery. Some recommend bringing a change of clothes, shoes, and mosquito repellent.
Easy to moderate difficulty 3 to 4-mile family hike. Trail takes you to the Halemanu valley and along the rim of Waimea Canyon. Trail leads to the top of the falls.
